How It Works
Can IMEDEEN be taken over a longer period of
time?
Can I take IMEDEEN permanently?
As IMEDEEN’s skin rejuvenating tablets are a food supplement with
natural ingredients, there is no indication that one should not take it
as long as desired. IMEDEEN’s skin rejuvenating tablets are developed
to be a permanent part of your daily skincare routine. Clinical studies
have shown that IMEDEEN tablets are safe for long-term use. An efficacy
and safety study carried out over 12 months clearly demonstrates this.
IMEDEEN’s skin rejuvenating tablets have also been through rigorous
toxicological tests, confirming that they are a safe product. Furthermore,
we know of loyal consumer and celebrities who have used IMEDEEN Classic,
IMEDEEN’s first skin rejuvenating tablets, ever since its launch,
back in 1991.

What happens if I stop taking IMEDEEN?
The condition your skin was in before you started taking IMEDEEN’s
skin rejuvenating tablets was the result of many years of skin deterioration.
Similarly, should you stop using IMEDEEN’s skin rejuvenating tablets,
the results you have obtained will not disappear overnight, but will recede
gradually. While we have not examined the pace at which this happens,
we know from consumer experiences that it varies from person to person;
some say after as little as one month and others have reported from four
to six months.
Does IMEDEEN show an effect on other parts
of the body?
Yes. During the studies, the effects of IMEDEEN’s skin rejuvenating
tablets in the face have been shown by ultrasound measurements and clinical
grading. Furthermore, in the Imedeen Prime Renewal study, the skin on
the hands and on the décolletage (upper part of the chest) were
investigated with equally good results. In the IMEDEEN Time Perfection
study, 67% of the women taking the product noticed improved texture and
decreased dryness on the skin all over their bodies.
Can IMEDEEN help oily skin?
We have not evaluated the beneficial effects of IMEDEEN’s skin
rejuvenating tablets on oily skin, so we do not have any documented benefits
for this skin type.
Does IMEDEEN protect the skin against sunburns?
IMEDEEN’s skin rejuvenating tablets does not work as a sun protector
– always use a sunscreen with an appropriate SPF when outside.
Does IMEDEEN have effect on hair and nails?
We have not performed clinical studies covering hair and nails.

My day cream contains antioxidants (Vitamins
C and E).
Do IMEDEEN and creams work together or against each other?
IMEDEEN’s skin rejuvenating tablets and creams, lotions, etc.,
work in different ways and affect different layers of the skin. Being
tablets, they work from within the body. The ingredients are transported
to the dermis (the supportive layer of the skin) via the blood, where
they effectively assist in defending the skin structure against the harmful
effects of free radicals. Creams and lotions work in the epidermis, so
IMEDEEN’s skin rejuvenating tablets and creams or lotions containing
antioxidants complement each other.

Formula and Ingredients
What is Biomarine Complex?
The Biomarine Complex, exclusive to IMEDEEN’s skin rejuvenating
tablets, is a fish extract rich in proteins and polysaccharides. These
proteins are similar to the proteins found in the dermal layer of the
skin – collagen, elastin and fibrillin. It has conclusively shown
to improve skin density. Polysaccharides are the sugar molecules that
create the moisture binding gel-like substance in the skin. These molecules
can bind up to 1,000 times their weight in moisture and are responsible
for the skin’s hydration. Biomarine Complex has in several scientific
studies shown to improve skin’s density and moisture content.

What is the difference between fish protein
in IMEDEEN and the fish oils talked about in the news?
Fish oils are an energy source and building blocks for cell membranes
while fish proteins are building blocks for various proteins including
collagen, fibrillin, and elastin, which are important to the structure
and density of the skin.
- Fish proteins contain high amounts of both essential and non-essential
amino acids. Amino acids are direct building blocks for numerous vital
proteins in the body. The skin is no exception. Of special importance
in the skin is collagen, fibrillin, elastin and other supportive protein,
important for the structure and density of the skin. Fish proteins contain
high amounts of amino acids and peptides directly involved in the formation
(synthesis) of collagen, fibrillin and elastin.
- Fish oils are made of fatty acids and glycerol. Their main function
in the body, including the skin, is as an energy source and building
blocks for cell membranes. Fish oils contain a large proportion of omega-3
fatty acids which play an important role in maintaining membrane fluidity
(= flexibility).

What is an antioxidant?
An antioxidant helps defend the skin against the signs of aging by neutralizing
free radicals. Found naturally in the body and skin, antioxidants are
stable molecules from which free radicals can "steal" an extra
electron. Once they have acquired an extra electron, free radicals are
neutralized. In this way, antioxidants effectively help defend the skin
against free radicals, thus aging.
What is lycopene?
Lycopene is the pigment that gives ripe tomatoes and watermelons their
bright red color. Its molecular configuration makes it one of the best
natural free radical scavengers. It plays an important role in defending
lipophilic (fat-based) environments, such as the cell membranes, against
degradation by free radicals.
Where does the lycopene in IMEDEEN come from?
The lycopene is extracted from red, ripe, specially grown, non-genetically
modified tomatoes.
What is grape seed extract?
Grape seed extract effectively decreases the amount of free radicals
in aqueous (water-based) environments such as cell plasma. Furthermore,
it accumulates in connective tissue that is rich in proteins and polysaccharides,
such as the skin.
Are there any additives in IMEDEEN?
IMEDEEN’s skin rejuvenating tablets are based on natural ingredients.
They do not contain lactose, added sugar, preservatives or artificial
flavoring.
Does IMEDEEN contain fat? Will the use of Imedeen
